There is some debate on wether MSG is always gluten-free (usually made thru bacterial fermentation, but could also be extracted from wheat protein…)
BUT, it can be a separate allergen (very similar in symptoms to gluten sensitivity) AND since most celiac site say it is SAFE & Gluten-FREE (including the U of Chicago below), then it is possible that IS it an ingredient in "gluten-free" products...
[So even though a product is "gluten-free" it may still contain MSG…which may be fine unless you are ALSO allergic to MSG (which it seems is common among those allergic to gluten)]
